Jim Rhatigan Fellowship Scholarship

To help defray the cost of the NASPA Annual Conference for graduate students pursuing a master's or doctoral program in higher education, student affairs, or other related field, the NASPA Foundation offers nine scholarships valued at $1,000. Funds must be used towards the cost to attend the NASPA Annual Conference held every March. 

Ideally, one winner from each Region and Area will be selected. A $700 stipend will be awarded to assist with hotel / travel, and meals while at the NASPA Annual Conference.  Recipients are asked to attend the NASPA Foundation Awards ceremony on Monday, March 11 and the NASPA Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 12. A complimentary ticket for the awards luncheon will be provided to the winners. The NASPA Foundation will provide a registration code to access discounted conference registration as well. 

Applications are due November 18, 2018 and all will be notifitied of status by December 7, 2018

Application Requirements

Please see the requirements below:

  • Must be a current NASPA member.
  • Scholarship recipients are required to be currently pursuing a master’s or doctoral program and cannot receive this scholarship more than once.
  • Must submit a current résumé or curriculum vitae.
  • Produce a maximum 2-3 minute video on a current hot topic / trend in higher education today and provide historical context on how it became "hot".
  • Please upload the video to YouTube or a similar video provider prior to submitting.
  • Have financial need and must submit a budget outlining conference expenses.
  • Submit a post-conference blog post/reflection (within 30 days of conference closing)
