“As a first year professional, NPMI gave me an opportunity to create connections outside of my institution, explore my professional identity, and discuss many topics that are central to student affairs. NPMI offers a unique experience in which you are able to thread a meaningful professional development opportunity throughout the course of a few months. NPMI sessions are an exciting opportunity to reconnect with the cohort, build relationships, and simply get away from campus to focus on professional development. NPMI was a central part of my experience as a new professional and truly helped me to explore my own values, skills, and professional identity, as well as leaving me with strong connections with colleagues from across the region. “ Ashley Robinson, Mentee
“NPMI is a fantastic professional development opportunity for both the mentees and the mentors. Although it is designed for the New Professional, I personally took away so much from my NPMI experience. I had the pleasure of serving as a mentor twice and my relationships with my mentees have been very rewarding. I am pleased to say that our mentor/mentee relationship has continued past the formal program and I consider both of my mentees to be valued colleagues.” -Beth Moriarty, Mentor
“Being part of NPMI was beneficial to consider issues facing not just new professionals, but the field in general. As a men-tor, I was able to share my own experience while learning from the issues by mentee was facing. It was also a nice time to reflect on our careers together in light of the information we were learning during our sessions. I really enjoyed the program as a way to stay connected to NASPA, my colleagues, and to learn alongside someone new(er) to the field and region.”- briana Sevigny, Mentor
“As a recent Boston transplant straight out of a masters pro-gram, I was struggling to build a strong professional network here. NMPI introduced me to peers, seasoned professionals, and experts, any of whom I feel I could reach out to for help or with questions. My mentor and I were (and are!) a great match, both professional and personally, and I have enjoyed learning from him both at sessions and on our own time. He's helped me make connections, work on a strong cover letter, and given advice about continuing my own professional development.” Katie Kidwell, Mentee
