The Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education invites applications to join the New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board for the 2020-2023 term. The journal’s mission focuses on scholarship that centers gender-based experiences of students, faculty, and staff while examining oppression, including but not limited to patriarchy, sexism, trans* oppression, and cisnormativity as they intersect with other systems of domination. The editors are particularly interested in manuscripts that not only focus on a gender-based group but also critically interrogate the ways in which gender has been used as a construct to limit opportunities and shape outcomes and experiences. The journal publishes high-quality and rigorous scholarship that can be used by NASPA members and others to transform daily practice, research, and the field of higher education. Applications should be submited via the application form on the NASPA website.
The editors seek individuals with a strong interest in research and/or practice that critically examines how gender impacts individuals’ experiences in higher education. The New Professional and Graduate Student Review Board generates a pipeline of reviewers and authors for the journal and is open to individuals who are new professionals (less than five years in the field) and graduate students. An orientation will provide support for individuals who would like to learn more about the editorial process and participate in manuscript reviews for the journal. Reviewers will be offered the opportunity for feedback on reviews as part of the developmental process.
Submit your application by completing application form on the NASPA website.
Applications will not be complete without uploading a cover letter and a CV or résumé.
Selected applicants will be invited to attend an Editorial Board Meeting at the 2020 NASPA Annual Conference in Austin, Texas. New board members will be notified by December 2019.
